Located on the southern CT/RI border, Clew Compost is a backyard community compost site that accepts food scraps from neighbors.
Drop-off or pick-up service (for Westerly, RI & Pawcatuck, CT) is available.

Accepted Items:
ALL fruit and vegetable scraps (including peels, stems, seeds etc)
Egg shells
Coffee grounds and filters
Tea leaves and non-synthetic tea bags
Bread, pasta, oatmeal, rice, etc
Oyster & Clam shells
Newspaper
Brown paper towels, brown kraft paper
We do NOT Accept:
Meat, fish, dairy, eggs, bones
Extremely greasy or oily food
Fruit & veggie stickers
Commercial cut flowers
Pet waste
White paper towels or any towels that were used with cleaning supplies
Bodily fluids or hair
Plastic, even if it says “biodegradable” or “compostable”

We accept food scraps, some yard waste, and some manure from our neighbors in the Westerly and Pawcatuck area. A drop-off bin is available 8am-8pm, 7 days a week.
Pick up service may be available, depending on where you live.

At this time, we are a free service. Donations are accepted, but never expected. Cash or Venmo accepted.
